Screen Time and Usage Reminders on Whistlr

Screen Time and Usage Reminders on Whistlr
Built-in tools for viewing your time-spent stats, setting daily limits, and scheduling break reminders
Whistlr is designed to be a place you enjoy checking in on, not somewhere you lose track of time without meaning to. Built-in screen time tools let you see how much time you're actually spending in the app, set your own daily limits, schedule reminders to take a break, and adjust notifications so the app fits into your day instead of taking it over.
Viewing Your Time-Spent Stats Go to Settings > Your Activity to see a breakdown of how much time you've spent on Whistlr, organized by day and averaged across the past week. The summary separates your time across Minis, Chattr, Discover, and Replyd, so you can see exactly where your time is going rather than just one combined total. You can tap any day in the chart to see what time of day you were most active, which is useful if you're trying to understand your own habits before deciding whether to change them.
These stats are private to you. No one else, including people in your In Circle, can see how much time you spend on the app or when you're most active unless you choose to share that information yourself. The goal of showing you this data isn't to judge your usage but to make an invisible habit visible, since most people are surprised the first time they see an honest number for how long they've actually spent scrolling.
Setting a Daily Time Limit From Settings > Your Activity, tap Set Daily Limit and choose an amount of time that feels right for you, anywhere from fifteen minutes to several hours. Once you reach that limit on a given day, Whistlr shows you a gentle reminder screen when you open the app, letting you know you've hit your goal. You can dismiss the reminder and keep using the app if you choose, or close out for the day. The limit resets automatically at midnight in your device's time zone.
  • Daily Limit: Set a target amount of time per day, with a reminder shown once you reach it, found under Settings > Your Activity > Set Daily Limit
  • Break Reminders: Schedule a reminder every 15, 30, or 60 minutes of continuous use, prompting you to pause before continuing
  • Quiet Hours: Mute notifications and badge counts during set hours, such as overnight or during work and school, under Settings > Notifications > Quiet Hours
  • Weekly Summary: Receive an optional weekly recap of your usage stats so you can track trends over time instead of just single days
  • Turn Off Anytime: Disable any of these tools whenever you like; they are entirely optional and never required to use the app
A social app should fit into your life, not compete with it, and giving people honest visibility into their own habits is one of the simplest ways to keep that balance in their hands.
Setting a Break Reminder Break reminders work independently from your daily limit and are meant to interrupt long, continuous sessions rather than track your total time for the day. Turn them on under Settings > Your Activity > Break Reminders and choose an interval. When the interval is reached, a short overlay appears suggesting you take a break, with options to close the app or continue browsing. Many people find a 30-minute interval strikes a good balance between staying mindful and not being interrupted too often.
These tools work best when you set them honestly rather than just high enough to avoid ever seeing them. If you're trying to cut back on overall usage, start with a daily limit close to your current average and lower it gradually over a few weeks. If you mainly want to avoid long, unintentional sessions late at night, a break reminder paired with quiet hours is usually more effective than a daily limit alone. None of these settings are required, and you can adjust or turn off any of them at any time without affecting your account in any other way.
