Message Management
Effective message management enables you to organize, control, and maintain your conversations efficiently. Replyd messenger provides comprehensive tools for editing messages, managing conversation history, organizing chats, and controlling message visibility, giving you complete control over your messaging experience and digital communication footprint.
Editing Messages: Correcting and Updating Sent Content
Edit messages you've sent by long-pressing or right-clicking on the message and selecting "Edit" from the context menu. Edited messages display an "edited" indicator and show the modification timestamp. You can edit messages multiple times, and recipients see the most recent version. Message editing is available for a limited time after sending (typically 15 minutes) to prevent abuse while allowing legitimate corrections.
Deleting Messages: Removing Content from Conversations
Delete individual messages or entire conversations using the delete option in the message context menu. When you delete a message, it's removed from your view immediately. In direct messages, deleted messages are removed for both participants. In group chats and pods, deleting a message removes it for all members if you have appropriate permissions. Deleted messages are permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered.
- Message Forwarding: Forward messages to other conversations by selecting the forward option, choosing recipients, and optionally adding context or commentary
- Message Pinning: Pin important messages to the top of conversations for quick reference, with support for multiple pinned messages per conversation
- Message Starring: Star messages to save them for later reference, accessible through a dedicated starred messages view
- Conversation Archiving: Archive conversations to remove them from your main inbox while preserving message history for future access
- Conversation Pinning: Pin important conversations to the top of your message list for quick access to frequently used chats
- Conversation Muting: Mute conversations to silence notifications while maintaining access and message history
- Message Search: Search through message history using keywords, participant names, dates, or content types to quickly find specific messages
- Bulk Actions: Select multiple messages or conversations for bulk operations including deletion, archiving, or forwarding

Conversation Organization: Managing Your Message List
Organize your conversations efficiently using built-in organization features. Pin frequently accessed conversations to the top of your message list. Archive conversations you want to keep but don't need immediate access to. Use the search function to quickly locate specific conversations or messages. Filter conversations by unread status, archived status, or conversation type. These organization tools help you maintain a clean, manageable message inbox.
Message History Management: Controlling Conversation Data
Manage message history through conversation settings, where you can control how long messages are retained, enable automatic deletion of old messages, and export conversation data. You can set conversations to automatically delete messages older than a specified period (30 days, 90 days, 1 year) or disable automatic deletion to preserve all history. Export conversations as text files or JSON data for backup or archival purposes.
Save for Later: Bookmarking Important Messages
Use the "Save for Later" feature to bookmark important messages, links, or information within conversations. Saved messages are accessible through a dedicated "Saved" view, organized by conversation and searchable by content. This feature helps you keep track of important information without cluttering your conversation history or losing track of valuable content.
Privacy and Deletion Controls: When you delete messages, they're permanently removed from our servers and cannot be recovered. Deleted messages are removed from all devices where you're logged in, ensuring consistent message history across platforms. In group conversations, message deletion requires appropriate permissions, and deleted messages are removed for all members. Our deletion system ensures that removed content cannot be accessed through backups or recovery systems.
