There's a familiar pattern in tech: a team builds a successful product, the work gets less glamorous, and the team's best energy quietly drifts toward the next new thing. The PX team is choosing the opposite. Instead of leaving Whistlr behind for something shinier, we're focusing our energy on expanding the Whistlr ecosystem: Creator Studio at whistlr.studio, Creator Labs, Business+ and Whistlr for Business, Storefronts, Havens, Nearby, the Whistlr Studio editing app, and the everyday features like Notes, Circles, WildDraw, Vault, Tips, and Gems that make the network feel alive. This article explains what expanding the Whistlr ecosystem actually means, why we believe building out what we already have beats starting over somewhere else, how each piece fits together, what it means for the people who use Whistlr every day, and how to get the most out of the whole ecosystem today.
If you've followed PX News, you've watched the Whistlr ecosystem grow one piece at a time. Creator Studio moved to its own home, the Whistlr Studio editor became a standalone app, Creator Labs launched as a free creative suite, Havens grew to 50,000 members per location, and Nearby put local communities on the map. Each of those got its own article. This one steps back to explain the decision underneath all of them: why the PX team keeps pouring its energy into Whistlr instead of moving on from it.
What "Expanding the Whistlr Ecosystem Instead of Leaving It" Means
Every product team eventually faces the same fork in the road. One path is to treat the flagship as done, keep it running, and send the most talented people off to build something new. The other path is to keep investing in the flagship, adding new layers that make it more useful, more connected, and more valuable to the people who already rely on it. The first path makes for exciting announcements. The second path makes for better products.
The PX team has chosen the second path for Whistlr. That doesn't mean ETAPX only builds Whistlr. GLSRM and Ocsidian are real products with their own teams and focus areas. It means that when we ask where the next big chunk of our energy should go, the answer keeps coming back to the Whistlr ecosystem: the network people use every day, plus the creator, business, and local tools that grow around it.
"Ecosystem" is a word that gets thrown around loosely, so here's what we mean by it. The Whistlr ecosystem is the set of apps and tools that share one Whistlr account and work together: the Whistlr app where you post, connect, and go live; the Whistlr Studio app where you edit; Creator Studio where creators run their channel as a business; Creator Labs where anyone can make professional video, design, photo, and audio work for free; Business+ and Whistlr for Business where creators and shops unlock monetization and selling; and Nearby and Havens where all of it meets the real places in your life.
"It's easy to fall in love with the next idea. It's harder, and honestly more valuable, to fall back in love with the thing you already built and ask what it still needs. Whistlr is full of real communities, real creators, and real businesses doing something meaningful on it every day. Walking away from that to chase something new would be the easy story. Building it out so every one of those people gets more from it is the right one."
— AJ, Founder & CEO, ETAPX
Why the PX Team Is Doubling Down on the Whistlr Ecosystem
This wasn't a sentimental decision. It came from looking honestly at where our work creates the most value for the people we build for. Here are the reasons that kept coming up.
Whistlr Is the Front Door
For most people, Whistlr is how they meet ETAPX for the first time. When we shifted our direction and branding, we were clear that Whistlr remains the flagship, the most visible and most-used product in the family. A flagship deserves flagship-level investment. Every improvement to Whistlr reaches more people than almost anything else we could build, and every new tool connected to it starts with an audience that already exists.
One Account Ties Everything Together
The Whistlr ecosystem runs on a single account. Your Whistlr account signs you into the Whistlr Studio app, Creator Studio at whistlr.studio, and Creator Labs. There's no second login and no separate profile to manage. That shared foundation is one of the most valuable things we've built, because it means a new tool doesn't have to win people over from scratch. It plugs into a profile, an audience, and a set of habits people already have.
Every New Piece Makes the Others More Valuable
When tools connect, they compound. Creator Labs makes better content possible, which gives creators more to post on Whistlr. More content and more live streams make Nearby and Havens more interesting to open. Business+ turns that attention into income through Gems, Revenue, Whistlr Pay, and Supporters. Storefronts give businesses a place to sell to the community they've built. Each piece raises the value of every other piece. A standalone app, however clever, starts from zero every time.
Focus Beats Sprawl
We've made focus calls across the company before. Ocsidian narrowed to Apple platforms to go deeper. Whistlr's newest features are built for iOS 26 first. Expanding the Whistlr ecosystem instead of leaving it is the same instinct at a bigger scale: do fewer things exceptionally well, and expand from a position of strength rather than spreading a team thin across everything at once.
Our Community Keeps Asking for More
Maybe the simplest reason of all: the people using Whistlr keep telling us what they want next. Creators asked for a real business dashboard, and Creator Studio moved to whistlr.studio. They asked for pro creative tools without a pile of subscriptions, and Creator Labs launched free. Local communities outgrew their spaces, and Havens grew to 50,000 members per location. When the requests keep coming, leaving would mean walking away from a roadmap our community is actively writing with us.
The Pieces of the Whistlr Ecosystem We're Building Out
Here's a tour of the major parts of the Whistlr ecosystem the PX team is expanding, what each one does today, and how it connects back to the core app.
Creator Studio: The Business Home for Creators
Creator Studio at whistlr.studio is where creators run their channel like a business. The dashboard's home screen adapts to where you are in your creator journey, with a Path to Earning checklist that walks you from connecting your encoder to getting Business+ verified, connecting Whistlr Pay, and receiving your first Gem. A rebuilt Stream Manager puts a live stat strip, a bitrate monitor, Quick Actions, an Activity Feed, and your chat on one screen. Redesigned analytics, a Supporters page for thanking the people who back you, a Revenue view, and Whistlr Pay for cashing out round it out. Creator Studio started inside the Whistlr app, and giving it its own home was one of our clearest commitments to building out the ecosystem rather than cramming everything into one feed.
Creator Labs: Free Pro Tools for Making Things
Creator Labs, at creatorlabs.whistlr.social, is a free suite of four professional creative apps that run in your browser and sign in with your Whistlr account. Stratos handles video, with multitrack timeline editing, color grading, effects, keyframes, and titles. Valen handles design, with layers, masks, type, vectors, brushes, and real PSD files. Calyx is a photo library with raw development. Aether is for recording, editing, and mixing audio. There's no credit card, no watermark, and no download, and your files stay on your own computer. Creator Labs exists because Whistlr does well when creators do well, and the fastest way to raise the quality of what people make is to remove the paywall in front of the tools they need.
Business+ and Whistlr for Business: Earning and Selling
Business+ is how creators unlock monetization in Creator Studio. After a one-time verification, including identity checks and Stripe onboarding, Gems, Revenue, Whistlr Pay, Supporters, and the analytics sections open up. For shops and brands, Whistlr for Business brings verification, the Verified Business badge, and professional tools like Storefront, Ads Manager, Business Suite, and Studio Set. There's no follower minimum for Verified Business, so a brand-new shop can get started on day one.
Storefronts and the Store Tab
Storefronts turn a Whistlr profile into a place to shop. Business profiles have a dedicated Store tab where live physical products appear, so shoppers can browse without leaving your page. Whistlr Go takes a single 15% platform fee on each sale, payments run through the seller's own Stripe account, and every seller accepts the published Merchant Operating Agreement before listing products. Live Shopping lets creators and businesses spotlight products mid-stream, when their audience's attention is highest.
Havens and Nearby: The Ecosystem Meets the Real World
Havens are communities pinned to real places, and each one can now hold up to 50,000 members per location. Nearby is the map of everything happening around you: Havens, live streams, and posts, with category chips like Food, Music, Gaming, Fitness, Art, Shows, Tech, Lifestyle, Outdoors, and Business to narrow things down. Creators can turn a live stream into a Live Haven that's pinned to their location only while they're live, and businesses can host Business Havens tied to their spots. Nearby shows posts and places, not people, which is how we bring local discovery into the ecosystem without giving up privacy.
The Whistlr Studio App: Editing on Its Own
The Whistlr Studio app is the standalone home for the multi-track AI video editor, automatic captions, AI voiceover, and the rest of the tools creators use to turn raw footage into a finished Mini. You can shoot, edit, caption, and polish without opening the main feed, and when you're done, your content posts straight to your Whistlr account.
The Everyday Network: Notes, Circles, WildDraw, Vault, Tips, and Gems
An ecosystem is only as strong as the core it grows from, so we keep investing in the everyday Whistlr experience too.
- Notes: Text-only posts of up to 800 characters, with an optional headline and room for a poll, hashtags, mentions, a link, a GIF, a location, or a song.
- Circles: Choose who each moment is for, including streams limited to specific circles.
- WildDraw: Battles where your audience can back your wins with reactions and WTC Gems that add points to your score in real time.
- Vault: Turn your best photos and videos into a monthly subscription. You pick the content and set the price, and fans subscribe through Stripe.
- Tips: Let your community support you straight from your profile, any time, with no live stream required.
- Gems: WTC Gems that viewers send during streams and on content, with tiers and goals creators manage in Creator Studio.
"Expanding an ecosystem is mostly invisible engineering. One account has to work cleanly across the app, the Studio editor, Creator Studio, and Creator Labs. A Haven with tens of thousands of members has to open as fast as one with ten. A storefront order has to land in the right Stripe account every time. That's the work that makes each new piece feel like it belongs, and it's work you can only do well if you stay with a platform instead of leaving it."
— John Ridge, CTO, ETAPX
How the Whistlr Ecosystem Fits Together
The real payoff of expanding the Whistlr ecosystem shows up when you follow a single creator or business through it. Here's what a connected week can look like.
- Make something. Design a thumbnail in Valen or cut a video in Stratos inside Creator Labs, or shoot and caption a Mini in the Whistlr Studio app.
- Post it to Whistlr. Share it to your profile, start a conversation with a Note, and choose which Circles each moment is for.
- Go live. Set up your stream info and monitor your stream health from Stream Manager in Creator Studio.
- Get found locally. Choose "Make this live a Haven" to pin your stream to your location on Nearby, so people around you can step in.
- Earn from your community. With Business+ verified, collect Gems during streams, accept Tips on your profile, and offer a Vault subscription for your most loyal fans.
- Sell what you make. List products in your storefront, spotlight them with Live Shopping, and let shoppers browse your Store tab.
- Learn and repeat. Check analytics, Supporters, and Revenue in Creator Studio, then plan next week with better information.
Notice that every step happens on one account, and every step feeds the next. That's what we mean when we say the ecosystem compounds. A creator who uses three pieces gets more than three times the value, because each piece amplifies the others.
"I used to bounce between five apps to make one post and get paid for it. Now I design in Creator Labs, post on Whistlr, go live from Studio, and pin the stream as a Haven so people from my neighborhood can drop in. It's the first time all of it actually feels like one place."
— Mari, creator and small shop owner on Whistlr
What Expanding the Whistlr Ecosystem Means for You
For the people who use Whistlr, the PX team's focus on building out the ecosystem shows up in practical ways.
- Less app-hopping: More of what you need to create, connect, earn, and sell lives in one connected set of tools.
- One simple account: Sign in with Apple or Google once, and your Whistlr account carries across the app, the Studio editor, Creator Studio, and Creator Labs.
- Steady improvement: Because the team stays with Whistlr, features keep getting refined after launch instead of being left behind when attention moves elsewhere.
- Tools that grow with you: A casual user can stick to posting and Havens, while a full-time creator or business can grow into Creator Studio, Business+, and Storefronts without switching platforms.
- Privacy built into the design: Creator Labs keeps your files on your computer, Nearby shows posts and places rather than people, and private communities stay locked on our servers.
How We Decide What to Build Next in the Whistlr Ecosystem
Expanding the ecosystem doesn't mean adding features for the sake of it. Every new piece has to pass a few tests before it earns a place.
Does It Connect?
A new tool should work with what already exists, sharing the same account and feeding into the rest of the ecosystem. If something would only make sense as a disconnected app, it's probably not the right fit for Whistlr.
Does Our Community Want It?
Our roadmap is shaped by the people using Whistlr. Feedback, community conversations, and how people actually use what we've shipped all influence what comes next. Whistlr is never finished, and the best next features often come from watching how creators, businesses, and communities push the current ones.
Does It Make the Core Better?
The best additions make the everyday experience better too. Creator Labs raises the quality of what appears in the feed. Nearby and Havens give people new reasons to open the app. Business+ gives creators a real reason to invest in their channel. If a new piece wouldn't strengthen the core, we think twice.
"The question we ask most often isn't 'what new product could we launch?' It's 'what would make the people already here get more out of Whistlr?' When you start from that question, you end up building connected tools, not scattered ones. Creator Studio, Creator Labs, Business+, Nearby, they all came from asking it over and over."
— Renata Osei, VP of Product, ETAPX
How to Get Started With the Whole Whistlr Ecosystem
You don't need to use every piece at once. Start with the core and add tools as you need them.
- Sign in to Whistlr. Download Whistlr and sign in with Apple or Google. That one account works across the ecosystem.
- Set up your profile and start posting. Share a Mini, write a Note, and set up your Circles so each moment reaches the right people.
- Open Nearby. Explore Havens, live streams, and posts around you, and join a Haven tied to a place you care about, or start your own.
- Try the Whistlr Studio app. Edit, caption, and polish your videos away from the feed, then post straight to your account.
- Make something in Creator Labs. Visit creatorlabs.whistlr.social, sign in with your Whistlr account, and try Stratos, Valen, Calyx, or Aether for free.
- Upgrade to a free Creator account and open Creator Studio. Sign in at whistlr.studio to plan, stream, and track your growth.
- Apply for Business+ when you're ready to earn. Complete verification and Stripe onboarding to unlock Gems, Revenue, Whistlr Pay, and Supporters. Businesses can verify through Whistlr for Business to open a storefront.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of the Whistlr Ecosystem
- Add one tool at a time: Get comfortable with the core app before layering on Creator Studio, Creator Labs, and Business+.
- Think local: A Live Haven on Nearby can bring in viewers who live around you and are more likely to stick around.
- Make it free first: Use Creator Labs before paying for creative software you may not need.
- Follow your Path to Earning: Let the checklist in Creator Studio show you what's left before your first payout.
- Diversify how you earn: Combine Gems, Tips, Vault, and a storefront so no single change takes down your income.
- Tell us what's missing: The ecosystem grows from community feedback, so share what would make Whistlr more useful to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Whistlr ecosystem?
The Whistlr ecosystem is the set of connected apps and tools that share one Whistlr account: the Whistlr app, the Whistlr Studio editing app, Creator Studio at whistlr.studio, Creator Labs, Business+ and Whistlr for Business, Storefronts, Havens, and Nearby. Together they let people create, connect, go live, earn, and sell in one place.
Why is the PX team expanding Whistlr instead of building new standalone apps?
The PX team is expanding the Whistlr ecosystem because connected tools compound in value, while standalone apps start from zero. Whistlr is ETAPX's flagship and the front door for most people, it runs on one shared account, and our community keeps asking for more. Building out what people already use creates more value than leaving it for something new.
Is ETAPX still working on GLSRM and Ocsidian?
Yes. GLSRM and Ocsidian remain part of the ETAPX family, each with its own focus. GLSRM is the front page of AI with its own iOS app, and Ocsidian is our agentic game creation tool, focused on Apple platforms. Expanding the Whistlr ecosystem is about where the biggest share of our energy goes, not about stopping other work.
Do I need separate accounts for Creator Studio and Creator Labs?
No. Your Whistlr account signs you into Creator Studio at whistlr.studio, Creator Labs at creatorlabs.whistlr.social, and the Whistlr Studio app. Whistlr accounts use Apple or Google sign-in, so there's no extra password or second profile to manage.
What is Business+ on Whistlr?
Business+ is how creators unlock monetization on Whistlr. After a one-time verification, including identity checks and Stripe onboarding, Gems, Revenue, Whistlr Pay, Supporters, and analytics sections open up in Creator Studio. Shops and brands can also verify through Whistlr for Business to open a storefront and use tools like Ads Manager and Business Suite.
How do Nearby and Havens fit into the Whistlr ecosystem?
Nearby and Havens connect the Whistlr ecosystem to real places. Havens are communities pinned to a location that can hold up to 50,000 members each, and Nearby is the map of Havens, live streams, and posts around you. Creators can pin a live stream as a Live Haven, and businesses can host Business Havens tied to their spots.
Is Creator Labs really free?
Yes. Creator Labs is free, with no credit card, no watermark, and no download. Its four apps, Stratos for video, Valen for design, Calyx for photo, and Aether for audio, run in your browser, sign in with your Whistlr account, and keep your files on your own computer.
How can I help shape the future of the Whistlr ecosystem?
The best way to shape the Whistlr ecosystem is to use it and share feedback. Our roadmap is driven by how people actually use Whistlr and what they ask for next. Tell us what's working, what's missing, and what would make Whistlr more useful through the app's feedback options and our community spaces.
The PX team could have treated Whistlr as finished and moved on. We're doing the opposite, because the people, communities, creators, and businesses already on Whistlr deserve a platform that keeps growing with them. Sign in with Apple or Google, open Nearby, try Creator Labs, and see how much more the Whistlr ecosystem can do for you today.
