Updating Your Email Address and Phone Number
Keeping the email address and phone number on your Whistlr account current is one of the easiest ways to make sure you stay in control of your account. This article covers how to update your contact information, why it matters, and what to expect when confirming a change.
Your email and phone number play a quiet but important role in your account's security. They're how Whistlr reaches you with important notifications, and they're how you regain access to your account if you ever forget your password or get locked out. If either one is outdated — an old phone number you no longer use, or an email account you've abandoned — you could end up unable to recover your account when you need to most.
Updating Your Email Address
Go to Settings > Account > Contact Information and tap your current email address. Enter your new email address and confirm your password to verify the change is really coming from you. Whistlr will send a confirmation link to the new email address — open that message and tap the link to finish the update. Your account will continue using your old email address until the new one is confirmed, so don't worry about losing access in between.
Updating Your Phone Number
Updating your phone number works the same way. From Settings > Account > Contact Information, tap your current phone number, enter the new one, and confirm your password. Whistlr will send a confirmation code by text message to the new number — enter that code in the app to complete the change. As with email updates, your previous phone number stays active on your account until the new one is confirmed.
Requiring confirmation before a new email or phone number takes effect protects you from accidental typos and from anyone else trying to redirect your account's contact information without your knowledge. If you ever receive a confirmation message for a change you didn't request, don't tap or enter anything — instead, change your password right away as a precaution.
- Update before you lose access: If you know you're closing an old email account or switching phone numbers, update your Whistlr settings beforehand rather than after.
- Confirm the change promptly: Complete the confirmation step soon after requesting it, since you'll need access to the new email or number to finish the update.
- Keep at least one method current: Make sure either your email or phone number (ideally both) is something you actively check, so you never miss an important notification.
- Double-check for typos: A small typo in a new email address or phone number means you won't receive the confirmation message, so review what you've entered before submitting.
- Review your contact info periodically: Every so often, check Settings > Account > Contact Information to make sure everything on file is still accurate.
Your contact information is the bridge back into your account if anything ever goes wrong, so keeping it current isn't a small detail — it's the difference between a quick recovery and being permanently locked out.
Updating your email and phone number takes only a few minutes, but it pays off the moment you actually need to recover your account or receive an urgent notification. Treat it as routine account maintenance rather than something to put off.
