New Updates and Requirements for Business Users and Storefronts
What's new for Whistlr business users and storefronts: the in-app business application, verification, the Merchant Operating Agreement, listing rules, the 15% fee, orders, and enforcement.

Selling on Whistlr has grown up fast. What started as a simple way to put products on a profile is now a full commerce stack with a Whistlr Go storefront, Live Shopping, Ads Manager, Business Suite analytics and payouts through your own Stripe account. As more businesses open shops on Whistlr, we've updated how business accounts are created, what every seller needs to have in place, and how storefronts, listings, orders and fees work. This guide covers the new updates and requirements for Whistlr business users and storefronts in one place: how to apply for a business account in the app, what verification involves, the Merchant Operating Agreement every seller accepts, product listing requirements, shipping and checkout rules, the current platform fee, order and refund handling, Account Health, and how enforcement keeps the marketplace trustworthy for buyers and sellers alike.

If you already run a storefront, most of this will feel familiar, but a few things have changed recently, including a new in-app application flow, an updated fee structure and a new Store tab on business profiles. If you're thinking about opening a shop, this is the checklist we'd hand you on day one. Either way, the goal is the same: clear rules, published up front, so every business on Whistlr knows exactly what's expected and every buyer knows what they can count on.

What's New for Whistlr Business Users

Here's a quick summary of the biggest recent changes before we go deeper into each one.

  • Apply for business right in the app: A new "Whistlr for Business" page in Account Center lets you start your business application from your phone in a few minutes.
  • Automatic unlock after verification: Once Stripe confirms your business details, your account switches to a business account, gets the Verified Business badge, and your professional tools unlock on their own.
  • A clearer storefront fee: Whistlr Go now takes a single 15% platform fee on each sale, and payments run as direct charges through your own Stripe account.
  • A Store tab on your profile: Your live physical products now appear in a dedicated Store tab, so shoppers can browse without leaving your profile.
  • Published seller rules: The Whistlr Business Merchant Operating Agreement sets out exactly what can and can't be sold, and every seller accepts it before listing products.

"Businesses tell us the same thing over and over: just tell us the rules. They don't mind requirements. What they mind is finding out about a requirement after a listing gets pulled or a payout gets held. Everything in this update is about putting the rules in plain sight before anyone sells a single thing."

Why We're Raising the Bar for Business Users

Whistlr is built around real relationships, and commerce on Whistlr works the same way. When someone buys from a storefront, they're usually buying from a business they follow, a creator they watch, or a shop a friend shared. That trust is the biggest advantage a Whistlr seller has, and it's also the easiest thing to lose. One counterfeit product, one order that never ships, or one seller who pushes buyers to pay off-platform makes every shopper a little more cautious with every store.

The requirements in this guide exist to protect that trust on both sides. Buyers get published rules about what can be sold, real refunds, and a way to raise a complaint. Sellers get a clear path to verification, predictable fees, and an enforcement system that warns before it acts. None of it is meant to slow a legitimate business down. Most shops will meet every requirement in an afternoon, and the ones that take a little longer, like tax forms or a return policy, are things a healthy business needs anyway.

How to Become a Business Account on Whistlr

A business account is the foundation of everything else in this guide. Storefronts, Ads Manager, Business Suite and Studio Set all sit behind business verification, and in the app, Whistlr's professional tools are available to business accounts.

The New Whistlr for Business Page

If your account isn't a business account yet, you'll find a "Whistlr for Business" page in Account Center. It walks through what a business account gives you: a storefront where people can shop your products, payouts that land in your Creator Wallet and go straight to your bank, and deeper insights into what your audience loves. It costs $0 to open your storefront, and the page is clear about how long it takes: verifying with Whistlr Business takes a few minutes.

Before you start, your account needs an email address. If you don't have one on file, Whistlr asks you to add an email before you apply, since that's where important business and payment notices go.

What Business Verification Involves

When you tap to get started, Whistlr sets up your own Stripe account and opens Stripe's secure onboarding, where you confirm your identity and business details. Stripe handles the sensitive information directly in its own hosted flow. When you're done, you return to Whistlr.

Once Stripe confirms your details and your account is able to take payments, Whistlr upgrades your account automatically. You become a business account, your profile gets the Verified Business badge, and Storefront, Ads Manager, Business Suite and Studio Set all unlock. If anything is still pending on Stripe's side, you'll see a status update in Whistlr rather than being left to guess.

Business Verification Requirements at a Glance

  • Age: Whistlr is for adults, so you must be 18 or older to open a storefront.
  • Email: An email address on your Whistlr account before you apply.
  • Stripe onboarding: Completed identity and business checks through Stripe, with your account able to accept payments.
  • No follower minimum: Unlike Verified Creator status, which requires 20,000 peers or recognition as a public figure, Verified Business has no minimum number of peers. A brand-new shop can verify on day one.

The Merchant Operating Agreement: Rules Every Storefront Follows

Every Whistlr business that sells products accepts the Whistlr Business Merchant Operating Agreement, effective April 9, 2026. On the business dashboard, you can't upload products until you've accepted it, and acceptance has to be an explicit choice. Whistlr records when you accepted so there's never a question about which version applies to your shop.

Six Rules Every Storefront Follows

  1. Sell only what's lawful. No weapons, explosives, illegal drugs, prohibited drug paraphernalia, stolen goods or anything tied to illegal activity, anywhere you sell or ship.
  2. No adult content. Pornography, explicit sexual content and sexual exploitation material can't be sold on Whistlr Go.
  3. Sell what you own. Counterfeit, pirated, replica or unlicensed goods are prohibited, and Whistlr may ask for proof of ownership, sourcing records or authorization.
  4. No scams. Deceptive funnels, fake offers, fraudulent promotions and bait-and-switch tactics aren't allowed.
  5. Keep reviews real. Fake reviews, false scarcity, hidden fees and manipulated customer signals break the agreement.
  6. Keep checkout on Whistlr. Don't redirect buyers to unauthorized payment channels to get around disputes, refunds or platform controls.

Ongoing Responsibilities for Sellers

The agreement also makes clear that compliance is ongoing, not a one-time checkbox. As a seller, you're responsible for:

  • Truthful listings: Descriptions, pricing, stock claims, delivery timelines and refund terms must be accurate and not misleading.
  • Good-faith customer service: Responding to customer issues, disputes and complaints on time.
  • Payment compliance: Following Stripe's requirements, submitting dispute evidence when asked, and keeping complete business records.
  • Taxes and licensing: Handling your own legal compliance, taxes such as VAT or GST where they apply, licensing and product safety obligations in the markets you sell to.
  • Your partners: Answering for suppliers, contractors and fulfillment partners when their actions affect your customers.

Whistlr Storefront Requirements for Product Listings

Listing a product on Whistlr Go is designed to be quick, but a few requirements apply to every listing. Here's what you need, whether you're listing from the app or the business dashboard.

Required Fields

  • Product title: Every product needs a name.
  • Price: A valid retail price in US dollars. Prices can't be negative.
  • Shipping turnaround: When you publish from the app, you choose how long it takes to ship: 1–2, 3–5, 5–7, 7–10 or 10–13 business days.
  • Business verification and payouts: Products can't be published until business verification is complete and your Stripe account is connected.

Media Limits

  • Images: Up to 10 images per product, with a maximum of 300MB per image.
  • Video: One video per product, up to 300MB.

Optional Details That Help You Sell

Beyond the essentials, you can add a SKU, quantity, weight, vendor, product link and color or size variants. You can also set a compare-at price to show a discount, as long as it's higher than your retail price. Whistlr checks this for you so a "sale" price never ends up higher than the original.

Product Categories

Each product goes into a category so shoppers can browse your store: Clothing, Accessories, Shoes, Bags, Jewelry, Electronics, Home & Living, Art & Collectibles, Toys & Games, Sports & Outdoors, Beauty & Personal Care, Books & Media, Food & Beverages, and Other.

Bulk Import

If you have a big catalog, you don't have to list items one by one. Bulk import accepts a CSV file of up to 2MB, or a ZIP of up to 40MB with your images included, with up to 100 products per import. The only required columns are title and price. You can also connect an existing online store or print-on-demand service, since Whistlr Go supports syncing from eight popular commerce platforms.

Building Your Whistlr Go Storefront

Your storefront is how your shop looks to buyers, and the storefront builder gives you real control over it.

  • Templates and themes: Choose a storefront template and a light or dark theme.
  • Headline and sections: Add a headline and arrange sections and categories the way you want shoppers to move through your store.
  • Banners: Feature up to five banners, each with an image, title, subtitle and a link to a category.
  • Store banner: Add a banner image that sets the tone for your whole shop.

The New Store Tab on Your Profile

Business profiles now have a Store tab that shows your products right on your profile. To appear there, a product needs to be live, a physical product, and set to be visible on your profile. Products that have been taken down won't show. If something is missing from your Store tab, check those three settings first.

Your storefront also connects to the rest of Whistlr. Business accounts can attach a Whistlr Go product to a Mini and pin products during a live stream with Live Shopping, so every Mini, Story and stream can lead to a product page.

"The Store tab is a small change with a big effect. A shopper who finds you through a Mini shouldn't have to hunt for your products. Now they tap your profile and your store is right there, with the same products your Live Shopping pins point to."

— Renata Osei, VP of Product, ETAPX

Checkout, Shipping and Payments

Where You Can Ship

Whistlr Go checkout currently collects shipping addresses in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. Buyers also provide a phone number at checkout, which helps carriers and sellers reach them about delivery.

The Whistlr Go Platform Fee

Whistlr Go takes a 15% platform fee on each sale. Payments run through Stripe Connect as direct charges on your own Stripe account, which means Stripe bills its standard card processing fee to you as the seller, and Whistlr takes only its application fee. Your earnings land in your Creator Wallet and pay out to your bank. The 15% storefront fee lines up with the rest of Whistlr's creator economy, so whether you earn through Gems or sales, the platform rate is easy to remember.

Orders, Fulfillment and Refunds

Managing Orders

Orders move through clear statuses so you and your buyers always know where things stand: requires fulfillment, processing, shipped, delivered or cancelled. When you add a tracking number, Whistlr detects the carrier automatically and marks the order as shipped, which saves a step on every package.

Refunds

Sellers issue refunds from their order management tools. Refunds are full refunds, and when you refund an order, Whistlr's platform fee is returned too, so you're not paying a fee on a sale that didn't stick.

Buyer Complaints

Buyers can file a complaint if something goes wrong with an order. The complaint reasons are item not received, damaged item, wrong item, seller not responding, and other. Responding quickly and in good faith is part of the Merchant Operating Agreement, and it's the fastest way to keep a small issue from becoming a bigger one.

Account Health: How Whistlr Measures Your Business Standing

The business dashboard includes an Account Health page that scores your setup out of 100 and tells you what's missing. It's a checklist of the things that make a shop trustworthy:

  • ID Verified (20 points): Government-issued ID on file.
  • Tax Forms (20 points): Your W-9 or W-8BEN submitted.
  • Product Guidelines (15 points): The listing policy acknowledged.
  • Return Policy (15 points): A clear return window in place.
  • Payout Setup (15 points): Stripe Connect linked for payouts.
  • Content Policy (15 points): The privacy and content policy accepted.

Your score lands in one of four bands: Excellent at 90 and above, Healthy at 70 and above, Needs Attention at 50 and above, and At Risk below 50. Treat anything below Healthy as a to-do list. Each missing item shows exactly what to do next.

Storefront Enforcement: Warnings and Locks

Clear rules only work if they're enforced consistently. Whistlr Go uses a warning-based system so sellers get a chance to correct course before anything serious happens, and repeat problems lead to escalating consequences:

  • First lock: A storefront that reaches 10 warnings is locked for 20 days.
  • Second lock: Ten more warnings after that lead to a 35-day lock.
  • Permanent closure: Five more warnings after the second lock close the storefront permanently.

While a storefront is locked, buyers can't check out, and they see a message that the store is currently unavailable. The Merchant Operating Agreement also allows Whistlr to remove listings, pause campaigns or restrict access when there's serious risk, and treats attempts to evade enforcement, such as replacement accounts or falsified records, as separate violations.

Advertising Requirements for Business Users

Ads Manager is unlocked for verified business accounts, so the same verification that opens your storefront opens your ads. A few creative requirements apply to every ad:

  • Primary text: Up to 90 characters.
  • Headline: Up to 25 characters.
  • Placements: Up to three placements per ad.
  • Review: New ads are submitted for review before they run, and ads are checked against Whistlr's content rules.

Short limits are a feature, not a restriction. Ads on Whistlr sit alongside posts from people's friends, and tight copy reads more naturally in that setting than a long block of sales text.

How to Get Your Business Ready: A Step-by-Step Checklist

  1. Add an email to your account. You'll need one before you can apply.
  2. Open Whistlr for Business. Go to Account Center, open the Whistlr for Business page and tap to get started.
  3. Complete Stripe onboarding. Confirm your identity and business details in Stripe's secure flow, then return to Whistlr.
  4. Watch for your Verified Business badge. Once Stripe confirms your account, your tools unlock automatically.
  5. Accept the Merchant Operating Agreement. Read the rules and accept them before uploading products.
  6. Build your storefront. Pick a template and theme, add a headline, banners and categories.
  7. List your products. Add a title, price, images and a shipping turnaround, or bulk import your catalog.
  8. Check your Account Health. Work through anything flagged until you're in the Healthy or Excellent band.

Tips for Running a Healthy Storefront

  • Pick an honest turnaround. Choose the shipping window you can actually hit, not the one that sounds fastest.
  • Use all your image slots wisely. Ten images is plenty to show a product from every angle, in use, and at scale.
  • Add tracking numbers right away. It marks the order shipped automatically and gives buyers peace of mind.
  • Set your return window. A clear return policy helps buyers feel safe and counts toward your Account Health.
  • Answer complaints fast. Most issues get resolved with a quick, honest reply.
  • Keep every sale on Whistlr. Off-platform payments break the agreement and remove the protections your buyers expect.
  • Connect your content. Attach products to Minis and pin them during streams so your storefront works every time you post.

"We built the enforcement system to be predictable. Sellers can see how warnings add up, buyers are protected when a store is locked, and nobody gets surprised by a rule that wasn't written down. Predictability is what makes a marketplace safe to build a business on."
